Quarters Part Two : Hania Comeback stuns Serme

Tonight’s matches started with an all-Egyptian clash between Karim Abdel Gawad and Marwan ElShorbagy, with Gawad coming from a game down to keep his hopes of a second title in front of the Pyramids alive.

In the semis he’ll face Wales’ Joel Makin, who ended the run of Frenchman Baptiste Masotti to reach his first PSA Platinum semi.

An Egyptian women’s world champion was guaranteed as defending champion Nour El Sherbini took three tight games against Kiwi Joelle King, and world junior champion Hania El Hammamy completed a stunning comeback from two games down to defeat France’s Camille Serme.
