He’s a good player, but I never really felt in danger – even though it was my first match in five months, coming back from a knee injury.
What I needed was to find my rhythm again, hit good length, and slowly finding my marks again. He was dangerous on the volley because he’s tall and cuts the ball off well. But at the front, he didn’t do anything particularly special, and I could feel he was struggling physically at the end of each game.
As for me, I felt good physically, and I knew that if I kept the rallies going, he would eventually fade. But overall, I’m just really happy to be back on court.
