Satomi – Talking about the Asian Games in Japan

To be fair, yes, there was pressure. But at the same time, I really do enjoy all the support I get from my home crowd.

Result-wise, it wasn’t quite what I wanted, and it still stings.

But it is what it is, and I still have the path left through the rankings. So I’m just trying to do my best on the whole tour until 2028, when it’s decided who can go to LA. The goal at the moment is to play each tournament at a hundred per cent, as much as possible.

I think I started off well in that semi-final. I was still ahead. But then, obviously, she came back and I started to feel a little bit panicked, to the point where I lost my head a little. It was probably because of the nerves and the pressure. My body also wasn’t at its best in that tournament, but I wouldn’t use that as an excuse as Annahat played really well, and mentally I wasn’t quite there. It wasn’t because of the pressure from the home crowd or anything like that. It was me. So it was a bit hard.

But it is what it is. All I can do is try my best on the day, and the result came out that way, which is a bit disappointing.

Still, it was a good lesson in how to look after my body. It was one of the worst times to have that problem, but it’s all experience, and I’m hoping I won’t do it again. That’s really it.
