Quarter-Finals Part One
The first evening of quarter-final action on the Glass Court at the OWest Complex saw all four matches go to seeding as top seeds Ali Farag and Nour El Sherbini were joined by Diego Elias and Hania El Hammamy in the semi-finals.
El Hammamy was the first victor of the night as she overcame England’s Gina Kennedy in three games – the scores were tight but it was the Egyptian who maintained the lead throughout. Farag got off to a blistering start as he went 7-0 up over Mazen Hesham before completing a straight-games win.
El Sherbini shrugged of her slow start in the previous round – she went two games down – and was always in charge against Belgium’s Tinne Gilis .The final match of the evening was curtailed as Tarek Momen retired injured early in the second game having lost the first to world champion Diego Elias.
