Marwan ElShorbagy downed second seed Paul Coll in an interrupted quarter-final match as Nouran Gohar, Nada Abbas and Mostafa Asal advanced to the semi-finals.
The opening match of the day was a high-qualify affair which saw World Champion Nouran Gohar maintain her winning record over Rowan Elaraby in three close games.
The first men’s match between Marwan and Coll was interrupted by a problem with the floor on the Glass Court, and was moved to the traditional courts early in the third game with the score one-all.
Marwan took advantage of the changes condition to complete the upset in four games. Still on the traditional court, Abbas became the second 9/16 seeded player to reach the semis as she beat Sana Ibrahim in four games, while Asal advanced as Mohamed ElShorbagy retired in the middle of the second game after losing a decision-ridden first game.
