Semi-Finals night at the OWest Sports Club saw all four matches go to seeding as top seeds Nour El Sherbini and Ali Farag were joined in the finals by Nouran Gohar and Mostafa Asal setting up two all-Egyptian finals in the first-ever PSA Diamond level event.
Sherbini faced third seed and defending champion Hania El Hammamy in a match that went all the way, world #1 Sherbini ultimately winning the decider 11-7 in 86 minutes. In the final she’ll face second seed and former champion Nouran Gohar after the current world champion despatched Nada Abbas in straight games.
Three-time defending men’s champion Farag avenged his world champs semi-final defeat against Diego Elias, taking each of the three games with increasing authority, while third seed Asal was in control throughout his match against Marwan ElShorbagy to reach his first CIB final.
