[2] Nour El Sherbini (EGY) 3-0 [12] Joshna Chinappa (IND) 11-5, 11-3, 11-6 (21m)
If the Egyptian supporters were a bit nervous as Nour is coming back from surgery in Germany, and that is her first tournament since, Nour looked extremely comfortable out there.
Only wobble is in the third, as often, the player led 2/0 throws caution to the wind, plays her best squash and put the pressure on. That, added to a little lack of match fitness, and we had a nice game on our hands, 4/4, 5/5, but Nour just too powerful in particular with her crosscourt, not giving a chance to Joshna to keep pushing…11/6 and it’s Nour in the quarters, facing Joelle…
Nour
“Joshna has been on form from the start of this season. I’m really happy with my performance and it’s my first tournament so I’m just trying to get back playing more and try to feel the game more. I’m really happy that I managed to win 3-0.
“I think I felt sharper tonight. I’m getting better every match and I’m more confident. I’m really happy to be in the quarters and I’m looking forward to the next round.
“Joelle is very tough and one of the best players on tour. It’s always a tough match against her, but I’m really looking forward to it and I can’t wait to get back on court.”
