R2: Karim doesn’t lose that one from 2/0 up against Iker….

[6] Karim Abdel Gawad (EGY) 3-1 Iker Pajares (ESP)  11-5, 11-8, 6-11, 14-12 (56m)

Karim

It’s always good to play here in Egypt, and especially, the first tournament of the season, to play from your home town is really good. You get confidence and support.

Last season was not the best, half of the season I lost a lot of matches whereas I was 2/0 up.

And it’s exactly what started to happen today. You have it in your mind, deep down, when you are 2/0, and you start losing a little bit of the lead in the third, you start remembering what happened the last season.

It’s a mental thing, and I’m trying to stronger than it, and find a way to beat this mindset.

Even in the fourth, I was 9/3 up, and then the momentum shifted, and I was too loose at the end of the match, and that makes me very happy to win that kind of match where I lead and then start losing and then manage to win again. It’s a good habit to get back…
