R3: Jonah solid against Abdulla

Jonah Bryant (ENG) 3-0 Abdulla Mohd Al-Tamimi (QAT)  11-5, 11-5, 11-4 (28m)

If Abud played well in the first game, 10m against a clinical Jonah in control, from the second on, the ‘old Abud’ showed his ugly head, tining away points. And even a huge mental push at 6/2 couldn’t stop the English from closing the game in 7m.

The third game was about the same length, 8m, with some brilliance from Abud, but Jonah was just too solid to be taken out of his comfort zone.

Jonah

My first major quarter final. I’m really happy to be there but obviously I’m not done yet.

It was good to get over the line and enjoy the win but all the focus is on the next round. And I’ll just be trying to get my body in gear and my mentality in gear.

I try not to look too far ahead and take it match-by-match. You can’t get too carried away with yourself, I’m still 26 in the world and have a long way to go. I’ll just take this tournament match by match.

If I could change anything in my game right now? I would change everything!

I can get fitter, stronger, better tactically more aware, skillset that would improve my understanding of the game, and I can’t put it down to just one thing…
