R1: Revenge time for Abud against Alex

Abdulla Mohd Al-Tamimi (QAT) 3-0 Alex Lau (HKG) 11-7, 11-4, 11-9 (34m)

Abdulla

The last three times, I lost to the guy, twice in Hong Kong, 3/2, 3/2, I lost to him in the Finals of the Asian Games, just in June, at the end of the season, 3/0. So today in my head, I really wanted to beat him 3/0 this time.

I had a really good summer, my mind is clear and I’m happier on court, enjoying my trainings, my life in general with my kids.

I’m doing all the things I like to do off the court to stay happy, I started Uni this fall, thinking about the future as well, and that is taking my mind off squash. I also started playing more golf, I think it’s the only sport I can play to stop thinking about life, and think about the shots I’m hitting.

All these things are helping a lot for this season. I played really well in London as well, I have the feeling I could have won my match against Eain Yow as well, I was 5/0 in the third and I could have won.

I was also leading 3/0 today in the third, but he started to come back 4/4, 5/5, and all I was thinking was keep my focus and not remember that last match, keep the ball in play, go for more shots, and wait for his mistakes, and that’s what I did. And I’m really happy with the win.
