[4] Amina Orfi (EGY) 3-0 [11] Fayrouz Aboelkheir (EGY) 11-1, 11-3, 11-6 (32m)
Amina didn’t let Fayrouz settle in the match before the middle of the third game.
The Alexandria Princess, one year older, played a lot against Amina in the juniors and in every single local tournament for several years.
She knew what to expect. But I feel that the mental step was just too high for Fayrouz. Playing the semi of a major, after having beaten her idol… Too much.
And Amina knew that could happen. She’s been there, and now, she could write a book about pressure and mental stress!
Far too many errors from Fayrouz to put Amina under any kind of pressure for two games: 4/0, 11/1 in 8m and then 10/2, 11/3. Note that Fayrouz, 10/2 down, still tried to score points and make Amina’s life difficult. It’s not as if she didn’t try…
Still a strong start from Amina in the third, 2/0 but Fayrouz more assertive, finding better lenght and power, from 2/5 to 4/5, 5/6, 6/7.
From that point on, Amina was lethally accurate and scored the next 4 points, 11/6, 12m, the longest game of the match.

“This tournament has not gone the way anyone expected, many of the seeds have been knocked out and the players are getting better and better.
“Fayrouz yesterday had a huge win, I knew that even though she beat Nour, she would be a bit overwhelmed but I just had to play my game and focus on what I could do and I’m very happy to be in the final.
“I just told myself that I’m 2-0 up so if she’s going to win then I wouldn’t let it go easy and thankfully I could get over the line.
“Hania had a huge win today, last time we played was back in November so it’s been a while but I’m really looking forward to it.”
