R3: Siva 3/1 against Jazz

[7] Sivasangari Subramaniam (MAS) 3-1 [16] Jasmine Hutton (ENG)  12-10, 7-11, 11-9, 11-5 (47m)

Surrounded and cheered by a French contingent – I’m kidding as it’s only Greg Gaultier, coach, and Baptiste Masotti, boy friend – Siva recovered from the loss of the second game to clinch the third, crucial, 11/9 in 10m.

They were neck to neck up in the middle of the game, 5/5, 6/6, 7/7, Jasmine still able to win at 9/9.

A huge rally at that point, Siva at the good end of it, and an error from the English, and it’s 11/9 in 10m again.

The hard work produced – the pace was very very high and the Malaysian was sending Jasmine to the four corners – started to show in Jas legs and it’s 6/3, 7/4, 11/5 Siva.

Siva

It’s a completely different game from last week, I played her in London, a different format – best of 3 – different court, the glass court. And that makes a difference. And I think she played better today, her accuracy particularly.

She is a fighter, she fights for every point, and I had to stick in.

I don’t think I played too well in the first and second game. Not getting my length how I wanted it. Just rushing everything, playing without much purpose.

So I tried and calmed down a bit. The third was tight. I managed to squeeze that in, and I felt a bit more like myself in the 4th, playing better squash.

I played once already at the Pyramids, Nour or Nouran, one of the two top girls. It’s a great venue, but completely different set up, completely different tournament from the one I have been playing for the past few days.

Tomorrow I have a rest day, hopefully I can get a hit on that court, trying to adapt as quick as I can. It’s different, it’s outdoor, other external factors as well. I’ll try to rest, recover. I remember last year here, I was up 2/0 against Nada and I lost that. I try to progress at every tournament, to improve, and I’m happy to come through today.
