Joel Makin and Joshna Chinappa amongst others have unfortunately been forced to withdraw from the upcoming CIB Egyptian Open.
Wales’ Makin, seeded 7th in the men’s draw, has not fully recovered from an illness and is therefore unable to play. Egypt’s Marwan ElShorbagy replaces Makin as a top 8 seed and will play Malaysian No.1 Eain Yow Ng, who moves into a 9/16 position, in Round Two.
Qatar’s Abdulla Al Tamimi has moved to a 17/32 seed and plays England’s Nick Wall who is a late addition to the draw due to the withdrawal of Ivan Yuen. One of the event’s wildcards Omar Sobhy has also withdrawn and has been replaced by reserve wildcard Salman Sherif Omar Mahmoud Khalil who will face USA’s Shahjahan Khan. The remaining spot in the men’s draw has gone to Canadian No.1 David Baillargeon who will play Mexico’s Leonel Cardenas in round one.
Due to the withdrawal of Chinappa, Egyptian duo Yathreb Adel and Sana Ibrahim have moved into 17/32 seedings positions and will play Latvia’s Ineta Mackevica and England’s Julianne Courtice in round one of the Platinum event.
Welsh No.1 Emily Whitlock now moves to a 9/16 seed, receiving a bye in round one.
Egypt’s Nour Aboulmakarim and Hong Kong’s Tong Tsz-Wing now join the draw and will face the Egyptian 17/32 seeds Mariam Metwally and Hana Ramadan for a place in the second round.
