You cannot help but be amazed at the extraordinary champion factory of Egypt. There again, another young lady, 17 years old, matching the experience of Hannah Craig – whose fitness is amongst the very best on the Tour – and accepting the rallies, never going for too much, or too short, and never losing her composure.
She created the upset on the first day, ousting #2 Enora Villard and never looked back since…. Remember the name.. Barb Sameh. Oh and she is very humble as well and among her three coaches, we find the name of a certain Omneya Abdel Kawy…
Barb : There is no pressure on me, I’m just enjoying my game, experiencing the new experiences in my biggest event so far. The pressure is on the top players, I’m just enjoying the moment.
I was trying to be as accurate as I could, hit my targets at the back and then only go for my short game, and also making sure I’ll do some length to slow down the game.
A big thank you to my coaches but most of all my mum, who has been with me every day from the start of the tournament, I hope I made her proud.
