R1: Hana clinical against dangerous Marta

Hana Moataz (Egy) 3-0 Marta Dominguez (Esp) 11-7, 11-7, 11-8 (34m)

Hana : I think today I was pretty solid. I had to be very, very solid from the beginning. I don’t think I’ve ever played Marta before, so I didn’t really know what to expect. But obviously she’s a really good player, so I just knew I had to be very solid from the start. I got pretty tired by the end, but I’m glad I pushed through and was able to win in three.

Overall, even during the summer, I’ve been trying to be more patient. I know I tend to try to make the rally shorter and just go for my shots, but I’m trying to be more patient, make the rally longer and build throughout the whole match.

In Egypt, I started working with Nour ElTayeb and I’m still working with Wael in Florida. Two Egyptians in different countries, which has been very, very helpful.

I think I’ve been stuck where I am for a while, and I can really push a lot harder. In terms of ranking, I definitely want to at least make the top 20, but more importantly, I want to push higher-ranked players and get wins over the top 10. Then we go from there.

I think a mix of mind and legs held me back. The past two seasons have been pretty tough in different ways. Last season, a lot was going on, and I struggled overall with my game, even just having love for the sport.
