[Q] Ruqayya Salem (Egy) 3-1 Rachel Arnold (Mas) 12-14, 11-9, 14-12, 11-4 (44m)
The upsets keep on coming here in Cairo, as Egyptian qualifier Ruqyya Salem stuns the in-form Rachel Arnold in four games.
18-year-old Salem, who beat Arnold earlier this year at the British Open, made it two wins from two attempts against the Malaysian, this time taking the match by a 12-14, 11-9, 14-12, 11-4 scoreline.
With Arnold arriving on the back of her huge upset win over eight-time World Champion Nour ElSherbini in Qatar, that’s an impressive win for the teenager.
She’ll face No.9 seed Tinne Gilis in the next round.

“I tried to not think that she beat ElSherbini recently. She’s the best at this game, and if I think about that, I wouldn’t be able to play very well and would be too nervous. But I knew that because I beat Rachel last time, I could do it again.
“I didn’t want people to think that it was just lucky last time, and that I can beat top players.
“I lost in the qualification of the Egyptian Open a couple of years ago, so it’s really amazing to be in the next round and to be able to play this event in front of my family on home soil.
