“That’s quite cool actually being the first ever player to win a match at a diamond-level event. I’d almost forgotten it was a diamond, it’s such a cool event and with the qualifying it’s exciting and pretty special.
“It’s nice on court, we play on all sorts of courts on the tour and I’ve been on some pretty dodgy courts in my time on tour and it’s nice here. The floor’s good, not slippy, it’s nice!
“I’m happy because until breakfast this morning I was preparing for a different opponent, and because I was on at 12:00 it only gave me two hours to prepare for this match. But in some ways that’s quite nice because I didn’t know anything about her, so it was nice not to worry for a few days before the event! Happy with my game and happy to be off in three, because she’s a tricky opponent and I was so edgy at the start.”
