R3: Straight 3/0 for the world number one against the Bullet

[1] Mostafa Asal (Egy) 3-0 [11] Mohamed Abouelghar (Egy) 11-8, 11-7, 11-2 (57m)

A lengthy 22-minute opening game goes the way of the World No.1 Mostafa Asal. A controlled showing from the defending champion, who is on the hunt for his third successive Egyptian Open crown.

Abouelghar by no means played poorly this evening on the all-glass court at O West, but Asal ultimately proved a cut above throughout the 57 minute contest.

Up next for the defending champion is a quarter-final match in front of the Pyramids with Mohamad Zakaria.

Asal : “The Pyramids is the best venue ever. I’m very happy to be playing there. Hopefully I will see everybody there tomorrow and everyone will be cheering for me.

“Mohamed is one of the best players on tour, I’m really happy to get through today, he’s so solid, he can beat anyone on his day, on his form. Onto the next round!”
