It was hard. Hard circumstances.
Playing an Egyptian in Egypt, wild card, no pressure… always going to come out firing!
I did well in the first game, then I got really passive. I tried to stop her attacking but I didn’t attack myself, I didn’t move her. And I was just getting stuck, passive length, and she was picking me off, she was too good.
So I had to move her again, and once I started moving the ball around with a bit more agression in my game, I found a lot of joy in that. More space on the court…
But it’s hard, people shouting at the back, you’ve got to keep your head, you have her trying to change the ball after the 4th, which I know she was not allowed to do, it was all happening, so you’ve got to be calm.
I’ve learned enough by now, I’ve played in Egypt so many times, I know how to stay calm, and the experience played a big role in the result today. You’ve got to use your experience as you are getting older.
But that’s what the Tour is about, you do well in your own country, but you’ve got to travel and play well, and be able to come through.
I think I’ve got Gina now, we get on really really well, we train together, so yes, looking forward to have a good game, and I know it will be a nice clean battle on here, and two British players playing each other, and I’m really looking for doing my best tomorrow.
