R2: Clinical Marina against Hana Ramadan

[14] Marina Stefanoni (Usa) 3-0 Hana Ramadan (Egy) 11-8, 11-3, 11-5 (26m)

Marina : I thought I played very well. I didn’t really give Hana anything to work with.

In the past, when we’ve played, I feel like I gave her more opportunities in the front and in the volley, whereas today I really tried not to do that, and I think I executed it well.

When I had the opportunity to attack, it was much simpler to put it in the front. But she’s very quick in the front, so she had some great gets. We had some great rallies, and I thought it was a good match overall.

I was very happy to be through in three and to feel like I’m playing good squash.

Tomorrow I’m supposed to be playing either ElSherbini or Kenzy, which would be exciting. It’s on the regular court. And honestly, the matches went so late last night that I don’t know if I’d want to play at midnight. I think the regular court is better.

Back in the States, I work with Graham Williams and Kumail Mahmood, so I have two: one in Connecticut, one in Philadelphia, and they’re both amazing. But here, I’m just on my own. I was sitting with my thoughts, writing some notes down…

I’ve been told I’m quiet. Is that something I’d say I am? Yes, but I definitely have some very good friends on tour that I stick with, and I’m still getting to know people. Honestly, the longer you stay in a tournament, the more you get to know the top girls, and some of them I’ve just learned are really lovely. Satomi and Gina are amazing.

So I’m still getting to know people, which is nice.
